WORKSHOP FOR MEN
In our time the father is often an absent father. He is a man that delivers his contribution to the family from a distance, outside and in the public life. This has its consequence for every member of the family. For the growing boy the absent father has, among other things, the result that he cannot identify with the adult males in the family psychologically, biologically or socially.
The father does not initiate the boy, making it difficult for him to develop his manly side from a feeling level. Without the support of a father figure it is problematic for the boy to detach himself from the nurturing mother figure.
Goal
In the Men's workshop you will undergo awareness as to what your place is in the world as a man. With each other's support, as men, fathers, brothers, sons, you will be initiated into adulthood. It is a ‘coming home to men’ while you purify the relationship with yourself and others.
Content of the workshop
Day 1 - In the evening we let go of the adult present life. We ask ourselves about the relationship with our father. We relive our boyhood. We recall the feelings we knew prior to our puberty. We hear from other men the experiences they have had.
Day 2 - We work out the meaning of identity and responsibility. Every man in the group chooses a number of manly qualities to especially focus on. In the evenings we will perform a modern ritual. This ritual has nothing to do with sexuality, but everything to do with permitting feelings and physicality as a grown man. It is the initiation of boy to manhood.
Day 3 - We meditate from masculine discipline so we can feel our inner strength without expressing it outwardly. With this our initiation is confirmed. By making a practical agreement with yourself you confirm that you are a new man.
Special: The Men's workshop is led by Tom de Winter. The
Women's workshop is led by Anasuya Koopmans.
Price
workshop: 150 euro per person travel expenses and accommodation excluded.
Participants: 24 men.
